Sunday Ogunwobi became a Christian (born again) while he was a student at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1980. The following year Sunday came to the U.K. to continue his studies. He then qualified as an engineer and worked in various establishments and served his community in Hackney as a school governor and local councillor. He worked as an engineer in the public domain and used every opportunity to preach the good news.
Sunday had a call upon his life whilst he was fighting his deportation in sanctuary at the Downs Baptist Church, in Hackney between 1993 –1997. Although he had always avoided going into the ministry as his late father had been a former church minister and Sunday did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps; because of the nature of the job and the demands made upon his father. However, he later attended Spurgeon’s College in London, where he studied theology. Subsequently, he was ordained a Baptist Minister in 2002 after he had trained for three years.
Reverend Sunday Ogunwobi’s preaching builds up faith and brings awareness of the deep love God has for us, along a ministry of healing. He has a passion for the oppressed, the poor and orphans, and a strong belief in the God of justice and righteousness as evidenced in his own life and ministry.
His wife Bunmi was a law lecturer and a legal adviser, but is now in full time ministry and has a gifting for prayer and offers spiritual and moral support for those in need. She also has a prophetic anointing under the power of the Holy Spirit speaking directly into people’s lives and ministers healing and deliverance under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The church Ministry is supported by others, including their two daughters and their son, who contribute a dynamic element to the worship music.# |
